ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Officials involved with a North American Hockey League team planned in the northeastern South Dakota town of Aberdeen have scheduled a Thursday news conference to announce details.
The NAHL said last month that its board of governors had approved an expansion team on the condition that the ownership met all the league’s requirements.
The team will be owned by local businessman Greg Odde, with home games at the Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen.
The NAHL has about 20 teams across the country. Bismarck, N.D., is the city closest to Aberdeen with an NAHL team. Teams are comprised of players age 16 to 20 who have aspirations of playing college or professional hockey.
