Hanson wants 10 percent cut in NDSU expenses

Interim North Dakota State University President Richard Hanson has asked campus officials to cut operating expenses by 10 percent.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Interim North Dakota State University President Richard Hanson has asked campus officials to cut operating expenses by 10 percent.

The move is part of a strategy to eliminate a $2.5 million budget deficit caused by unanticipated expenses and tuition collections that did not meet projections.

Hanson says a partial hiring freeze imposed in December and lifted Thursday saved NDSU $1.2 million.
