Show Choir performs at festival

The Jamestown Show Choir, Vocal Jazz, and Jazz Band performed at the NSU Jazz Festival in Aberdeen, S.D., on Jan. 28. The students performed among various other groups from South Dakota, Minnesota and North Dakota schools. Students also attended workshops and a concert featuring Byron Stripling, a trumpet virtuoso. The Jamestown High School Show Choir earned first place in its division.

The Jamestown Show Choir, Vocal Jazz, and Jazz Band performed at the NSU Jazz Festival in Aberdeen, S.D., on Jan. 28. The students performed among various other groups from South Dakota, Minnesota and North Dakota schools.

Students also attended workshops and a concert featuring Byron Stripling, a trumpet virtuoso. The Jamestown High School Show Choir earned first place in its division.

The Jamestown High School Vocal Jazz earned second place in its division. Individual students who received awards included Alec Nelson (outstanding vocal soloist), Laura Kraft (outstanding choral musician), Leah Entzel (outstanding instrumental musician) and Matt McIntyre (outstanding instrumental musician).

The groups are directed by Brady Olson and Cheryl McIntyre.

Each group will be performing at the Music Boosters Valentines Banquet on Feb. 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
