BEULAH, N.D. (AP) — Mercer County officials will be keeping a close eye on the Knife River this spring while also looking into options for long-term flood protection.
About 80 homes in Beulah and a handful in Hazen suffered flood damage last spring.
County Emergency Manager Carmen Reed said a flood task force assembled after the flooding hopes to increase coordination among county, city and emergency management agencies.
The group also has applied to the Corps of Engineers and the State Water Commission for funding for studies aimed at identifying a long-term flood protection plan.
