The Agriculture Department says the amount of potatoes held by growers, dealers and processors in the state on Feb. 1 stood at 9 million hundredweight — the lowest Feb. 1 level in 21 years.
Current stocks represent 47 percent of production.
Nationwide, potato stocks on Feb. 1 stood at 203 million hundredweight — up 11 percent from last year and up 2 percent from 2008.
