Possible site identified for Bismarck medical center

Officials have identified a potential location for a new University of North Dakota Center for Family Medicine facility in Bismarck.

BISMARCK (AP) — Officials have identified a potential location for a new University of North Dakota Center for Family Medicine facility in Bismarck.

The site is a downtown parking lot between Bismarck’s two hospitals, St. Alexius Medical Center and Medcenter One. Medcenter One owns the land, but building the center at the site also would require city approval.

The state Legislature last year approved $5.4 million for a new center, which could be open by July 2011. The UND medical school has hired a Bismarck architectural firm to plan the building.
