Letter to the editor: Crabtree won’t serve North Dakota residents

Brad Crabtree’s announcement that he is running for the North Dakota Public Service Commission seat was interesting, to say the least. He went out of his way to indicate that Xcel Energy’s interests will be one of his major concerns. I doubt that many other candidates for the PSC have singled out one private utility when announcing a political campaign. Can you imagine the outcry if a Republican candidate had pledged to work on behalf of a private utility’s interests?

Crabtree’s overall agenda is clear. He will use the PSC to wage war on North Dakota energy production. Like the president and Democrats nationwide, he wants to end the fossil fuel industry. The fact that thousands of jobs will be lost, our energy rates will skyrocket and we would lose 90 percent of the electrical generation in our state does not seem to concern him.

It seems Crabtree would represent Xcel Energy rather than the citizens of our state.
