N.D. Dem Senate candidate says he has edge
The only candidate for North Dakota's Democratic U.S. Senate endorsement says he's expecting competition, but he's unsure who it will be.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The only candidate for North Dakota's Democratic U.S. Senate endorsement says he's expecting competition, but he's unsure who it will be.
Bismarck state Sen. Tracy Potter was the only U.S. Senate candidate to visit most of the local Democratic district conventions where state convention delegates are chosen. Democrats are holding their convention in Fargo later this month.
Potter says former Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp's decision not to run gives him an edge at the convention.
Killdeer businesswoman Kristin Hedger says she's still strongly considering a run. Hedger says she's considering whether she can take time from her job as vice president of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing.
Hedger ran unsuccessfully for secretary of state in 2006.
