Region 3 tournament begins tonight

One of the top region tournaments in the state kicks off here today.
District 5 champion Valley City (17-5) and District 6 winner Linton (19-2) are the top-seeded teams as the top eight teams from the area converge on the Civic Center for the three-day tournament.
The Hi-Liners and Napoleon (11-11) gets things started today at 3 p.m., followed by Kidder County (16-5) and star Adam Randall facing Ellendale (14-8) in the second game.
Coming off its surprise runner-up finish in the District 5 tournament, Litchville-Marion-Montpelier (13-9) takes on Strasburg-Zeeland in the third game of the day.
Linton takes on LaMoure (14-8) and District 5 Senior Player of the Year Aaron Stemen in the final game of the day.
The semifinals are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, with the third-place and championship games on Thursday, also beginning at 6.
The Region 3 champion advances to the state Class B tournament March 18-20 and will face the Region 5 winner in the second game March 18 at the Minot State Dome.
