Arson was the cause of the fire started at S&R Truck Plaza last month, resulting in more than $1 million in damage, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Police and firefighters responded to the burning building at 1609 Business Loop East just after 2:30 a.m. Feb. 13. A large portion of the service shop was engulfed in flames, causing $1 million in damage to the building, including its contents, as well as $80,000 to a live bottom potato trailer and $20,000 to a Peterbilt semi tractor.
Police believe the fire originated in the cab of the 2000 Peterbilt tractor.
The investigation into the fire was conducted by the Jamestown Fire Department and Jamestown Police Department, with assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and private fire investigators from three companies. Reports have been submitted to the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
No charges have been filed.
The case remains under investigation.
