Letter to the editor: City Council stealing vote from Jamestown residents

It’s grand theft of the Jamestown development jobs fund and stealing the next vote on this fund from the taxpayers of Stutsman Country by taking $1 million a year through 2022. The City Council has no plan except to throw valuable dollars down the drain in Jamestown.

The taxpayers know the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. has done its job in job creation, building expansion and expanding the tax base with these tax dollars. Also, these dollars are audited by an independent CPA each year. All dollars are accounted for and a public report to the taxpayers each year is available. The city will take this $1 million and it will disappear with no plan.

Jamestown needs jobs, a bigger tax base and economic development. JSDC is the only organization charged with this responsibility. They make these dollars work for many years in our future. Don’t let four people steal your vote and your money! Your tax dollars through JSDC, past council members and country commissioners have funded Goodrich, Cavendish Farms (land), the Great River Energy project at Spiritwood, I-94 Business Park, Precision Results, RealTruck, AgriCover and others. Jobs and building expansion. A complete list is available at the JSDC office.

Jobs are people —– people have children who go to our schools. People buy cars, food and consumer goods. This is the future of Jamestown and Stutsman County with your tax dollars at work, not running down the drain in Jamestown.

Call you council person or write a letter to the editor, your future is at stake, your vote and opinion count!
