Letter to the editor: Hoeven’s work in N.D. qualifies him for U.S. Senate

Over the past few years, North Dakota has been an anomaly in a nation that is struggling during an economic recession. Where many states are cutting budgets and running deficits, our state has been able to continue to fund important things such as education and infrastructure. In addition, our leaders were able to set money aside in a reserve to protect us against any unforeseen circumstances in the future, and many North Dakotans saw substantial tax relief on their property tax statements and in their income taxes. We certainly are blessed to be in North Dakota.

We have heard many attribute it to the energy industry, but there are several other energy states that are not faring as well as we are — California for one. The difference can be directly attributed to our state’s leadership, not the least of whom is Gov. John Hoeven. He has been a great leader for our state, and I am very happy to see he is seeking the Republican endorsement for the U.S. Senate. I have no doubts that he will be a great U.S. Senator as well.
