Auditions for the LaMoure County Summer Musical Theatre’s first show, “The Diary of Anne Frank,” will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 9, and 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10. Both auditions will be held at director Christine Hatton’s home (the only red house in Grand Rapids). In addition to actors, anyone who can provide insights into Jewish culture is welcome to attend.
“The Diary of Anne Frank” tells the story of a young Jewish girl who’s forced to hide when Amsterdam is invaded by Nazis. With an epic war unfolding outside her building, Anne is forced to grow up too quickly and struggles to come into her own. The play is based on Anne Frank’s actual diary, which has become required reading at hundreds of high schools.
Auditions will also be held on March 20 by the directors of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” They are planned at 1 p.m. in the Oakes (N.D.) High School band room and at 7 p.m. in the Omega Room in LaMoure. Although no experience is necessary, actors must be willing to sing and dance in a group.
Those who’d like to try out for “Beauty and the Beast” but can’t make it to either audition may do so by appointment by calling Lauren Brandenburg at 701-269-1311.
