JMS bands place at Mandan event
Jamestown Middle School’s seventh- and eighth-grade band received the Gold and Silver trophies, respectively, at Mandan’s Big Muddy Music Festival. The March 9 event, hosted by Mandan High School, included 22 North Dakota Bands in grade 6-12. JMS student Brianna Johnson was also recognized as Outstanding Flute Soloist.

The March 9 event, hosted by Mandan High School, included 22 North Dakota Bands in grade 6-12. JMS student Brianna Johnson was also recognized as Outstanding Flute Soloist.
The seventh-grade band performed Quincy Hilliard’s “African Festival,” John Zdechlik’s “In Dulci Jubilo” and Brian Balmages’ “Incantation and Ritual.” The eighth-grade band performed Bob Margolis’ “Fanfare, Ode, and Festival,” Frank Ticheli’s “Portrait of a Clown” and Michael Story’s “American Collage.”
The bands are under the direction of Ken Aune.
