BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Gov. John Hoeven is proclaiming Monday as Vietnam Veterans Day in North Dakota.
An afternoon ceremony is planned Friday in Memorial Hall at the state Capitol in Bismarck, where Hoeven will sign the proclamation.
The proclamation is in accordance with a bill passed by the 2009 Legislature designating March 29 in honor and remembrance of Vietnam veterans.
Hoeven will be joined by North Dakota National Guard commander Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk (sprin-suh-NAT'-ick), legislators and representatives from each of the state's veterans organizations. Several veterans and their families also will be in attendance.
