Kent Horton introduced Steve Grenz, owner of Lloyd’s Electronics, at the March 22 Kiwanis noon luncheon meeting in the Lantern Room.

Grenz is a native of Jamestown. He graduated from Jamestown High School. He worked at Lloyd’s Motors for about a decade and developed an interest in CB radios.

In 1979 he was interested in computer science when a friend showed him the Apple II Plus, which was the early beginnings of Microsoft. He bought the CB business from Lloyd’s Motors and started his own computer business. He said many changes have occurred in the years since he started with speed and amount of storage of information always increasing. He credits the Internet for the computer’s popularity, not just for business, but for instant communication and the sharing of pictures with friends and family. Currently Lloyd’s Electronics sells Dell computers, and is certified to service them.

Guests at the meeting included former Kiwanis member Maj. Tim Miller, of the Salvation Army, who is training in the Chicago area to work with persons in drug addiction. He will be assigned later by the Salvation Army to work in an addiction facility.

Tim Burchill brought Dr. James “JJ” Johnson as his guest to Kiwanis. Johnson is in dental practice with Dr. Kenneth McDougall. He was welcomed and invited to become a part of the Jamestown Kiwanis Club.

The Key Club met at Jamestown High School Monday evening. Key Club advisor Sandy Franke and Norman and DeLette Winkelman attended the meeting.

Micheal Grounds will be the program chair for the Kiwanis noon luncheon meeting April 5 at the Lantern Room.
