Eight to interview for NDSU presidency

Interim North Dakota State University President Richard Hanson says he is disappointed to be eliminated from consideration for the post on a permanent basis.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Interim North Dakota State University President Richard Hanson says he is disappointed to be eliminated from consideration for the post on a permanent basis.

But he says it will not change how he does the job on an interim basis. He says there are several important things to be done, including resolving budget issues.

The committee searching for a new president says eight candidates will come to Fargo for off-campus interviews the weekend of April 10-11. NDSU's two internal candidates — Hanson and D.C. Coston, vice president for agriculture and university extension — are not among them.

NDSU is searching for a successor to Joseph Chapman, who announced his resignation as NDSU president last October after criticism of his spending.
