Edgeley students earn honors at speech tourney

Edgeley School was the lone competitor from a Class B school at the March 27 Invitational meet at Fargo North. Clare Geinert placed second in radio broadcasting in a tie-breaking decision resulting in a class A/B split with both students qualifying for state. She placed third in dramatic interpretation and ninth in humorous interpretation.

Mikaela Long placed 16th out of 40 students in humorous interpretation with “The Truck Stop Incident.”

Ashley Boom and Kyla Jensen placed 17th out of 24 pairs in humorous dramatic duo with “For Here or To Go.”

The speech team travels to Linton on April 10 for the regional competition and to Mandan on April 24 for state competition. The 10 schools competing in the Fargo North meet included Mandan, Fargo South, Devils Lake, Shanley, West Fargo, Jamestown, Grand Forks Central, Fargo North, Red River and Edgeley.
