YMCA honors Miller, Erickson, Davidson

The James River Family YMCA held its 34th annual meeting March 8 at the James River Senior and Community Center.

The James River Family YMCA held its 34th annual meeting March 8 at the James River Senior and Community Center.

The James River Family YMCA presented Volunteer of the Year awards to Randy Miller and Jim Erickson for their volunteer efforts on behalf of the YMCA. Miller was recognized for his volunteer leadership on the YMCA board and committees. Erickson was honored for his efforts in leading the Y board for two years. He has also given many hours of volunteer service on numerous committees and task forces.

The YMCA also presented the 16th annual Founders Award. This award is presented to a local volunteer who has been instrumental in the development of the YMCA in Jamestown. Doug Davidson was honored for his many hours of volunteer service in securing the YMCA’s future in Jamestown. He has also volunteered his time to the YMCA in Jamestown for 12 years.

Newly elected Board of Directors members are Jim Worley, Terry Hansen, Mike Woodley, Doug Frohlich, Ed Anderson and Connie Lillejord. They join current members Chris Eriksen, Jim Erickson, Chuck Janzen, Barb Looysen, Maris Thompson, Randy Miller, Roger Koenig, Reuben Liechty, Casey Henderson, Frank Jensen and Rachel Liechty. Retiring board member Doug Davidson was recognized for his years of service on the YMCA board. Erickson was recognized for his year as president of the board.

Several employees were recognized for their years of service to the YMCA. Recognized were Mark Olson, 33 years; Betty Ament, 24 years; Sheila Johnston, 18 years; Renee Luhman, 17 years; Mark Lundgren, Autumn Shafer and Ann Kindseth, all 16 years; Robin Kramlich, 12 years; Cathy Grabinger and Doug Warcken, both nine years; and Cheryl Hoggarth and Kelly Nagal, both eight years.
