Lillejord new pastor at Immanuel

The Rev. Nels Lillejord has been called to be pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1403 Ninth Ave. S.E. Lillejord graduated from Lanesboro High School, Minn., Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. Ordained in 1960, he began his ministry in rural New London, Minn.

Lillejord graduated from Lanesboro High School, Minn., Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. Ordained in 1960, he began his ministry in rural New London, Minn. Lillejord served parishes in Lamberton, St. James, Hayward and Hillman, all Minnesota, as well as parishes in McVille, N.D. Following his retirement, he served interim ministries in Valley City, Ellendale, Edgeley, Kulm and Jamestown, all North Dakota. This spring, he began serving Immanuel Lutheran and is being recognized on April 17 for his 50 years of service in Parish Ministry at the 2010 Convention of the Eastern North Dakota Synod at the Jamestown Civic Center. Lillejord and his wife, Ellen, have seven children.

Immanuel Lutheran worships at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings September through May, and at 9:30 a.m. June through Labor Day. Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays of each month. Sunday school is held at 9:30 a.m. during the school year, with adult and high school classes meeting periodically. The confirmation program covers the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostles Creed, Lutheran roots and discipleship in the world.

Immanuel Lutheran Church is accessible with no steps for the physically challenged, and is located next to Gardenette Housing in southeast Jamestown. The public is invited to attend.
