NDSU gets high marks for research

North Dakota State University is listed among the top 100 research universities in several National Science Foundation categories.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota State University is listed among the top 100 research universities in several National Science Foundation categories.

The listings are for fiscal 2008, the latest year for which national statistics are available. NDSU's total research expenditures that year were $115.5 million.

NDSU ranked in the top 100 in agricultural sciences, social sciences, physical sciences and chemistry.

Overall, NDSU ranked 39th nationally in the foundation survey, when ranked by research and development expenditures among 554 research universities without a medical school.

When total research expenditures across all institutions were compared, NDSU ranked 122nd out of 679.
