The Jamestown Planning Commission forwarded a request to bore a water line under Interstate 94 to the Jamestown City Council with a do-pass recommendation, according to Harley Trefz, chairman of the commission. The commission met Monday morning.

Only a government agency can make a request to the North Dakota Department of Transportation for a permit to put a water line under the highway.

“The 10-inch water line will form a loop from Jamestown, along the frontage road north of the Interstate to near the new hospital location and then be bored under the highway,” he said. “The line will continue back to Jamestown along the quarter line to the area of R.M. Stoudt where it will tie back into the city’s water system.”

Jamestown Hospital will pay approximately $400,000 of the cost of construction of the loop.
