Phil Hansen, a North Dakota native who played 11 seasons with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills after being drafted in 1991, will speak about financial life after the NFL at the fourth annual North Dakota Jump$tart Coalition Spring Conference. The theme is “Reflections of Financial Literacy.”

This conference is open to all North Dakotans who want to learn more about money matters on April 22 at the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck. Teachers, parents, financial professionals and interested individuals can reflect on their own financial knowledge and gain more through the various planned sessions.

John Parfrey, director of the High School Financial Planning Program within the National Endowment for Financial Education, will present on financial literacy education in the schools. Other topics include a demonstration of the “Hands on Banking” tool, a video presentation relating to elder financial abuse, and financial literacy perspective from college students.

Breakout session topics will feature College SAVE, organizing financial institutions in schools, and information for women on taking charge of their financial security. Financial literacy program creators and ND Jump$tart members also will have information and resources to share with attendees. Teachers have a great opportunity to get their hands on tools they can use in their classrooms and visit with experts.
