N.D. officer pleads guilty to sex with teen

A former LaMoure police officer faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

LAMOURE, N.D. (AP) — A former LaMoure police officer faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

LaMoure County State's Attorney Kim Radermacher says Kyle Mackey pleaded guilty Wednesday to one felony count of gross sexual imposition. Other charges are being deferred or dismissed.

Mackey, who was 22 years old when he was charged last September, was accused of having sex with the girl and sending sexually explicit text messages to her. He resigned as LaMoure's lone police officer on Aug. 13.

If a judge accepts the plea agreement, Mackey will serve no fewer than five years in prison and no more than 15 years. A sentencing date was not immediately set.
