Potato stocks down in North Dakota
Potato stocks in North Dakota are down 21 percent from a year ago and 17 percent from 2008.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Potato stocks in North Dakota are down 21 percent from a year ago and 17 percent from 2008.
The Agriculture Department says the amount of potatoes held by growers, dealers and processors in the state on April 1 stood at 5 million hundredweight — the lowest April 1 level in 21 years.
Current stocks represent 26 percent of production.
Nationwide, potato stocks on April 1 stood at 129 million hundredweight — up 11 percent from last year.
