Game and Fish pays out to counties
The state Game and Fish Department says it has paid $434,595 to counties in which it owns or leases land. The 2009 payments are in lieu of property taxes. The payments ranged from $76 in Ward County to $54,227 in Sheridan County. The Game and Fish Department manages more than 200,000 acres for wildlife habitat and public hunting in 50 counties.
