The North Dakota Department of Commerce today extended the timeframe for submitting the appliance rebate form and materials from 30 to 90 days in response to delays people are experiencing in securing refrigerators from dealers who are experiencing high demand and short supply for the appliances nationwide.
“We are receiving a fair number of calls from people who are concerned they won’t make the original 30-day deadline for submitting their rebate form because they can’t receive delivery of their new appliance within that timeframe,” said Jeff Rotenberger, the state’s energy program manager. “Extending this timeframe to 90 days should provide ample time for people to receive their order and submit their claim.”
The North Dakota Energy Star Appliance Rebate program provides incentives for consumers to replace and retire inefficient refrigerators. Commerce received $615,000 for the program through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and will be issuing these funds to consumers in the form of a $150 debit Visa card.
Approximately 3,800 rebates will be allotted. About 1,000 rebate forms are still available. All North Dakota residents are eligible for this program.
Only refrigerators purchased on or after the start of the program on April 6 qualify for the rebate. Applicants must sign up for an appliance rebate program form at www.NDEnergyStarRebate.com and will have 90 days from enrolling to complete and submit the form with proof of purchase of a qualified Energy Star refrigerator and proof of disposal of an old refrigerator.
Only full-sized (7.75 cubic feet or greater) Energy Star refrigerators are eligible for the program. A list of allowed Energy Star refrigerators is available on the Web site. Applicants should expect to receive their debit cards within 6 to 8 weeks of submitting the application.
Consumers can go to the Web site or call 1-877-402-0062 for more information.
