Attempted Hastings, Minn., robbery ends with suspect fleeing with nothing

HASTINGS, Minn. – An attempted robbery at the Great Clips hair salon here Thursday afternoon ended with the suspect fleeing the business.

With the help of eyewitnesses, who gave police descriptions of both the suspect and the vehicle, the suspect was apprehended later that afternoon in St. Croix County, Wis.

The attempted robbery was reported shortly before 1 p.m. when a man came into the business and implied he had a weapon and demanded money. However, he fled the scene before anything happened.

A nearby elementary school was placed into lockdown mode, but lifted an hour later.

The suspect is in custody in the St. Croix County Jail and charges are pending.
