TAYLOR, N.D. (AP) — An injured golden eagle rescued thanks to an observant farmer will go through rehabilitation at Dakota Zoo in Bismarck.
Russell Stein was doing farm work near Taylor Wednesday when he spotted the eagle and called wildlife officials.
The eagle's injuries were not immediately determined, though officials said the bird's talons do not work and its sight is impaired.
Anne Marguerite Coyle, an assistant biology professor at Dickinson State University, says it is important to get the eagle back in the wild quickly. She says male eagles are the sole food providers while females are incubating eggs, and it is breeding time.
