A Jamestown man has been charged with gross sexual imposition in connection with the assault of a 4-year-old girl, according to Dave Donegan, chief of police.
Donegan said Andrew Phillip Sherburne-Roller, 28, 719 First Ave. N., was charged after police responded Wednesday to a report of a domestic disturbance at 719 First Ave. N. On arrival, the officers located two adult men and four small children. The investigation into the incident found a 4-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted, Donegan said. Detectives were notified along with child protection from Stutsman County Social Services.
The girl was examined at Jamestown Hospital emergency room and taken to Fargo by a detective for a forensic exam.
Police then arrested Sherburne-Roller, who has been charged with gross sexual imposition, a Class AA felony. He is accused of engaging in a sexual act with a minor. The charge is punishable by a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. The mandatory minimum sentence is five years supervised probation with latitude for lifetime probation and no deferred imposition of sentence is allowed.
Donegan said Sherburne-Roller is in custody in the Stutsman County Correctional Center where he is being held on a $125,000 bond.
