Woman gets more jail time for child neglect

A Bismarck woman sentenced last August to a month in jail on a child abuse or neglect charge has now been ordered to spend a year behind bars.

BISMARCK (AP) — A Bismarck woman sentenced last August to a month in jail on a child abuse or neglect charge has now been ordered to spend a year behind bars.

Authorities said 30-year-old Sharee Hanson committed numerous violations of her probation, including taking her two daughters to Indiana without permission.

Hanson was charged last year after police responding to a call at her home described the living conditions as the worst they had seen, with garbage, clothing, food, dirty diapers and other rubbish throughout the residence. She later pleaded guilty.

Her husband, Dwayne Hanson, also pleaded guilty to child abuse or neglect and spent time in prison.
