Medical equipment donations sought

Project Healthcare Equipment Recycling Organization is seeking donations of medical equipment no longer used.

Durable medical equipment and supplies can be dropped off to HERO between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. today and Wednesday and during regular business hours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 2204 Fifth Ave. N., Moorhead, Minn. Items HERO is in need of include walkers with seat, wheelchairs, bath transfer benches, bath chairs, and lift chairs. Thus far in 2010, HERO has filled the requests of more than 500 individuals. Over 24,000 pounds of medical supplies from HERO have been packed and distributed through 13 medical missions. The Third World nations involved are Haiti, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Peru, Mexico and Indonesia. HERO serves 32 counties in North Dakota and 13 in Minnesota.

Project HERO is recognized as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with local, regional and global reach. The mission is to collect and redistribute donated health care equipment and supplies to help those in need. HERO is an eco-friendly organization that advocates the protection of the environment by recycling through redistribution, reducing the amount of usable medical equipment and supplies being disposed into area landfills and incinerators.
