Sanford breaks ground for Belize children's clinic

Sanford Health on Tuesday broke ground for a children's clinic in Belize.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Sanford Health on Tuesday broke ground for a children's clinic in Belize.

The clinic in the Central American country is Sanford's first international children's clinic. The facility in Belize City is expected to open by summer 2011.

It's part of initiatives outlined after a $400 million donation from philanthropist T. Denny Sanford in 2007.

Sioux Falls-based Sanford Health merged with Fargo, N.D.-based MeritCare late last year, forming Sanford Health-MeritCare.
