A walk for mental health will be held in conjunction with the 125th anniversary celebration at the North Dakota State Hospital on Thursday. The walk will cover about a mile in distance from the hospital campus to the State Hospital Cemetery.
“It is a chance to fill people in on the history of the State Hospital and the cemetery,” said Kris LaDouceur, a certified therapeutic recreational specialist at the State Hospital and one of the organizers of the walk.
The event also commemorates Mental Health Month.
“We have prizes for donors and a lot of fun things,” LaDouceur said. “And we’ll be selling hot dogs and chips as part of the fundraising effort.”
Signup for the walk begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday with the walk getting under way at 5 p.m. Participants will be back at the State Hospital in time for the open house events set for 7 p.m. at the museum at the fourth floor of the LRC building.
