BENSON, Minn. — Two teenagers are dead and one seriously hurt after a two-vehicle crash around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday about three miles southeast of here.

Authorities say the teens were in a sedan traveling northbound when the vehicle apparently struck the side of a semi trailer that was westbound.

The teens were transported by ambulance to Swift County-Benson Hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the 15- and 16-year-old males were later pronounced dead at the hospital. The 17-year-old boy was later airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn.

The 33-year-old male driving the semi tractor-trailer received minor injuries, was treated and released.

Authorities said names will be released when next of kin have been notified.
