North Dakota State’s Whitney Carlson has been named the Summit League Women’s Athlete of the month after setting two records in April.
Carlson, a junior from Buchanan, broke the school record in the heptathlon (5,343) at the Mt. SAC/Cal Invitational Combined Events in April 15.
She also broke her old record in the long jump (21-1.50) and became just the third Bison performer to win an event at the Drake Relays.
Carlson tallied six first-place finishes in the month and currently ranks fourth in the country in the long jump and ninth pentathlon. She has the top marks in the Summit League in the 100 (13.80) and 400 (1:00.02) meter hurdles.
The conference meet is scheduled for May 13-15 in Toledo, Ohio.
