County, Larimore close on law enforcement deal
Grand Forks County and the city of Larimore are close to a deal on law enforcement.
LARIMORE, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks County and the city of Larimore are close to a deal on law enforcement.
The county has agreed to move forward with a contract for the sheriff's department to provide law enforcement for the city of 1,430 people for $9,000 a month. The proposed contract will be sent to the Larimore City Council for consideration.
Larimore has its own police department, but Mayor Dale Trosen says it has been without a police chief for about two months.
Trosen will ask that the sheriff's department consider Larimore's two police officers as candidates for the two new county deputy positions that would be created under the contract.
