N.D. taxable sales and purchases down

Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says North Dakota’s taxable sales and purchases in 2009 totaled $11.7 billion, down 5.3 percent from the record year of 2008.

BISMARCK (AP) — Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says North Dakota’s taxable sales and purchases in 2009 totaled $11.7 billion, down 5.3 percent from the record year of 2008.

Fong says 2008’s level of growth was not sustainable. He says the 2009 figure was up nearly 15 percent from 2007, a more typical year.

Fong says North Dakota’s economy remains healthy.
