Germans from Russia pick officers

Germans From Russia Heritage Society, James Valley Chapter elected officers at its April meeting at the Jamestown Arts Center.

Elected were President Betty Brosz, Vice President Odella Mathias, Secretary Lillian Schlecht, Treasurer Yvonne Wegner and board members Helen Hillius, Doreen Larson, Genie Lang, Paul Janke, Lucille Kennedy and Lavina Kleese.

The chapter set a time to clean Folk Park and made arrangements with Vern Quam to place a sign that the park is maintained by the chapter.

The German Heritage singers who are all members of the chapter are practicing for coming events, namely the Medina Methodist Church 75th anniversary, the Kinzler reunion, Jamestown Amphitheater and Ave Maria Village.

Members are also planning to attend the 40th annual Germans From Russia Heritage Society Convention July 21-25 in Bismarck. The theme this year is “Treasuring the Past, Preserving the Future.”
