UND med school ranks No. 1 for family doctors
The American Academy of Family Physicians says the University of North Dakota medical school is tops in the country for producing family medicine doctors.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The American Academy of Family Physicians says the University of North Dakota medical school is tops in the country for producing family medicine doctors.
UND ranked first among the country's 132 accredited medical schools. The rankings look at the percentage of graduates who choose family medicine.
Over a three-year period, more than 20 percent of UND's graduates entered an accredited family medicine residency program. The national rate was about 8 percent.
Other regional schools recognized by the academy include the University of South Dakota medical school, with a rate of just under 17 percent, and the University of Minnesota medical school, at 16.3 percent.
