Fighter jets training over Neb., SD, ND and Minn.

Military officials say fighter jets will be flying practice missions in the skies over Nebraska, North and South Dakota and Minnesota.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Military officials say fighter jets will be flying practice missions in the skies over Nebraska, North and South Dakota and Minnesota.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command says the exercises will be conducted late Tuesday morning near Lincoln, Neb.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Bismarck, N.D.; and Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.

People may hear and see fighters near civilian aircraft as the military pilots practice interception and identification procedures.

The command is composed of U.S. and Canadian aircraft and personnel. It says it has conducted similar training missions throughout the United States and Canada since the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001.
