WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — Police suspect vandalism in two power outages that affected much of Wahpeton and part of the neighboring Minnesota city of Breckenridge.

Wahpeton Police Chief Scott Thorsteinson says bolts were removed and other things were done to electrical equipment at two separate locations. He says whoever was responsible apparently knew what they were doing.

The first outage was reported about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and the second about 20 minutes later. Power was restored at about 3:15 a.m.

About 1,400 Otter Tail Power customers were affected. Thorsteinson says a number of alarms went off but otherwise there were no major problems.
