Pingree-Buchanan student dies after collapse

A Pingree-Buchanan High School, Pingree, N.D., student was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon after he was playing basketball in the school’s gym, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Jason Falk did not release the 17-year-old’s name.

The student collapsed around 12:30 p.m. and was transported to Jamestown Hospital where he later died.

The death is still under investigation, Falk said. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results.
