Potato stocks down 33 percent in North Dakota
Potato stocks in North Dakota are down 33 percent from both a year ago and 2008.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Potato stocks in North Dakota are down 33 percent from both a year ago and 2008.
The Agriculture Department says the amount of potatoes held by growers, dealers and processors in the state on May 1 stood at 2.80 million hundredweight.
Current stocks represent 15 percent of production, down from 19 percent last year and 18 percent in 2008.
Nationwide, potato stocks on May 1 stood at 87 million hundredweight — up 11 percent from last year.
