L-L-M completes Region 1 sweep

The LaMoure-Litchville-Marion baseball team completed its season-long sweep over Region 1 competition with a 9-0 blowout over Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page in Hope on Tuesday.

The Loboes (12-0 Region 1) also went on to win the second game of the evening over the Spartans 5-2, finishing their regular season with an overall record of 22-2. LaMoure-Litchville-Marion will get to open the postseason at home in LaMoure when the Region 1 tournament gets underway on May 24.

The Lobes sent Cole Gentzkow to the mound in the opening region contest against the Spartans. Gentzkow went all 7 innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, while striking out 8 batters and walking none. Gentzkow also helped his effort offensively, going 2-for-5 at the plate with a double, 2 RBIs and a run scored.

The Lobes got on the board early, scoring 3 of their 9 runs in the first inning.

Jared Meiklejohn earned the win for the Loboes in Game 2, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 2. L-L-M’s Brett Hample went 2-for-3 at the dish with a double and 2 runs scored.
