A man driving near Mandan, N.D., died Thursday after he lost control of the vehicle, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The patrol did not release the name or city of residence of the 40-year-old man, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup. The patrol said he was traveling northbound on N.D. Highway 1806 about a mile north of Mandan just after 1 a.m. The vehicle drove off the right shoulder and over-corrected back to the left.

The driver lost control and the vehicle skidded across the roadway in the northwest ditch. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its wheels.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. He was ejected from the driver’s side window. The patrol pronounced him dead at the scene.

Damages totaled the pickup.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
