Crews are now working on dike removal operations in the 1600 block of East Business Loop and North Dakota State Hospital, the Jamestown City Engineer’s Office said in a news release Thursday. Workers are expected to move into the Second Avenue Southwest area this afternoon.

Crews will continue to work on dike removal and seeding operations until they are finished, which is anticipated to be on June 26.

City crews will be assisting with pump removal, and the contractor crews will be initiating the grading and seeding operations as work progresses.

Because of the variety and type of work involved, the release said, the city might not be able to keep up with adequate announcements as to the locations of all of the workers involved. Residents are asked to give the workers room to work and drive carefully when around these operations. Residents are also asked not to remove any dike materials themselves.

The engineer’s office said plans for roadway repairs and reconstruction of streets damaged by the dike construction and removals from the last two years are being updated. The city will need to wait for dike removal to be complete before we schedule these construction operations. This work could begin in late July or early August and, weather permitting, the city intends to complete all such repair work this year.
