GRAND FORKS (AP) — Potato blight has been confirmed in North Dakota, and growers are being told to scout their fields.

The Northern Plains Potato Growers Association says blight was confirmed in a field in Dickey County, in the southeastern part of the state.

A 1999 outbreak of blight in the Northern Plains destroyed $125 million worth of potatoes. Cases were confirmed in North Dakota last year but there was no widespread outbreak.

Farmers can spray a fungicide to head off the disease.
