N.D. man recalls Minnesota lake rescue

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A Grand Forks man who nearly died during a fishing expedition on Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods says he’s still reliving his dramatic rescue.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A Grand Forks man who nearly died during a fishing expedition on Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods says he’s still reliving his dramatic rescue.

Alonzo Guzman was fishing Monday afternoon with six other men when the boat capsized. Guzman was the only one who wasn’t able to jump from the craft, and he became trapped underneath.

Guzman was saved by county rescue workers and local resort officials after about three hours. He says for a time, he thought he was going to meet his maker.

Guzman says it was a tough experience, but the Grand Forks barber plans to fish Lake of the Woods again. He says he’s got to face his fears.
