Ex-N.D. GOP head would consider challenging Steele
North Dakota's former Republican Party chairman says he'll consider running against Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele next year.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's former Republican Party chairman says he'll consider running against Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele next year.
Gary Emineth says Steele's penchant for political missteps has taken attention away from Republican candidates for office.
Steele has drawn criticism by saying recently that the war in Afghanistan was a war of President Barack Obama's choosing. The war was launched by former President George W. Bush in response to the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
The 51-year-old Emineth resigned as North Dakota's Republican chairman last week, saying his business interests were demanding his time.
Emineth said Monday that he'll consider running against Steele after the November elections, if Steele seeks another term.
